Weather catastrophes
It is easy to think that the weather is what it is, no matter what the human do. Some weather researchers are on the other hand claiming that the weather is very much a result of how we treat the Earth. There have always been weather catastrophes striking the Earth, but the researchers mean that the number and size of those have grown lately, and that it might indirectly be a result of, for example, too much carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. But there is still discussions about this connection.
Many kinds of weather
Weather can be dangerous, but it is not a threat towards the humankind. Maybe we still remember the terrible flood in Mozambique early in 2000. Big cyclones/typhoons are often hitting USA and other parts of the world. Some parts of the Earth are suffering after years with no rain at all. At other places there are smoke from hundreds of wood fires making the air lethal to breath into; fires that are caused by a combination of wood owners that want to clear land, and a heat and lack of rain that makes the wood dangerously dry.
Only local threats
Even though weather can be lethal for humans, it is only a local threat. It is not able to destroy the humankind.
