Project Far Future
The plan
The plan is to start a community of volunteers, called "Project Far Future". I've been thinking of this for a long time. The project is way to heavy for me to handle alone, so I need help. Expert help within science, space technology, society, ethics, economy, and a lot more topics would be very apreciated, but of course the ideas and meanings of all the other of you who share this interest of the future are most welcome.
The idea
The idea is to find out how to send a portion of the humans away from the Earth to settle down on a new planet in a new planet system. The time frame is maybe 200 years ahead, so none of us will probably live the day we are able to permanently leave this sun system the Earth is a part of.
The initial suggestion
The initial suggestion is a large ship with a capacity of 100 000+ people on board. I dont like thoughts about freezing down humans. I want them to live in a society during the travel to another planet that will maybe take as long as several thousands years. So the ship has to be really large. My initial calculations shows 5000 meters length and a diameter of 1000 meters. After the Ship has reached its travelling speed, it will start to rotate to make a virtual gravity outwards, and there will be several levels (floors) from outer walls and inwards, making the total area up to some hundreds square km. It should be plenty of space for apartments, schools, sports, productions, food, leisure, Ship-technical stuff, etc.
The thoughts
The thoughts are many, and I will not present all of them here now. A lot have to be planned regarding society, genealogy, safety, leadership, political system, work and education, economic system, etc. I have only made some initial thoughts, but I really would want a lot of advices from educated or other clever people within different areas.
The goal
The goal is to make inital plans of how to move to another planet in another star system. The Ship is the focus. A ship where we shall stay for maybe hundreds of generations.
